Some of my parodies come out of love (Barry Trotter, for example). Others, however, rise up like angry beasts when I read something so incredibly calculated-yet-moronic, that mockery is the only suitable response. Heaven Is a Deal is an unauthorized parody of a book currently perched atop the bestseller lists which purports to tell the story of a four-year-old boy’s trip to Heaven. If that idea alone sends you into sugar-shock, get a load of this: it’s co-written by Sarah Palin’s ghostwriter.

My book tells the tale of a Christian couple who learn of this book’s success, then try to get a little boy–not abducting him, just borrowing him–and not killing him, just near-killing him–so that they can write a bestseller of their own. As usual, it’s all in the name of Jesus…the checks just happen to be made out to somebody different.

Perfect for the cynic in your life, or anybody who—like me—is sick and tired of fundamentalists of every stripe chasing wealth and power and pretending it’s about God.
