I have run into the weirdness of the “double slit” experiment before, but the video below does a particularly good job of explaining it. “Gee, that is strange. But what,” you might ask, “does this mean for me, the reader of mikegerber.com?” Well if you’d just stop gluing your fingertip to your eyelid, I’ll tell you. This post—and all the other posts on this blog—was much funnier until you began to read it. Then, as a result of your reading, the formerly flexible words fixed themselves into a certain arrangement, with a certain meaning. This meaning, caused by you, and only one of an infinite number of possible meanings, has a particular funniness quotient or FQ. This FQ is only an infinitesimal portion of the post’s total funniness potential, or FP.
The FP is determined by the writer, while the FQ is determined by the reader. The difference between the FP and the FQ can be expressed by the mathematical equation, “I don’t get it.” And this is why Daddy drinks.
