I’m a fan of the book, so I was pleased to read Roger Ebert’s positive review of the movie.
UPDATE: In my eternal quest to be even-handed, here are two more reviews of Red Dragon, neither very positive. One’s from the Village Voice, and the other’s from The New York Times. Thus armed, you can make your decision.
